About This Tool
This currency converter fetches daily reference rates published by the European Central Bank (ECB) through the Frankfurter API, with exchangerate.host as a fallback. Select a base currency, type an amount, and see the converted value instantly. Rates are cached locally for up to 24 hours so the tool works offline. ECB rates are mid-market reference rates — your bank or payment provider will apply its own spread, so treat these as estimates rather than exact transaction amounts.
FAQ
Where do the exchange rates come from?
Rates are sourced from the European Central Bank (ECB) via the Frankfurter API. The ECB publishes reference rates every working day around 16:00 CET. We fall back to exchangerate.host if the primary source is unavailable.
How often are rates updated?
The ECB updates rates once per business day. Our converter fetches fresh rates on each visit and caches them locally for up to 24 hours so the tool works even when offline.
Are these rates suitable for actual financial transactions?
ECB rates are reference rates, not transaction rates. Banks and payment providers add their own margins. Use this tool for quick estimates and comparisons — for exact amounts, check with your bank or broker.
Why are some currencies not listed?
We show currencies tracked by the ECB. If you need one not listed, let us know via our contact page.
