About This Calculator

This salary calculator converts between six common pay periods. It uses the hours per week and weeks per year you specify to ensure accurate conversions for non-standard schedules. All amounts shown are gross (before taxes and deductions). Actual take-home pay depends on your tax bracket, benefits, retirement contributions, and other withholdings.

FAQ

How do I convert annual salary to hourly rate?
Divide your annual salary by the number of work hours in a year. For a standard schedule: hourly = annual / (40 hours/week × 52 weeks) = annual / 2,080. For example, $65,000 / 2,080 = $31.25/hour.
What is the difference between gross and net salary?
Gross salary is your total pay before any deductions. Net salary (take-home pay) is what you receive after taxes, insurance premiums, retirement contributions, and other withholdings. This calculator shows gross amounts only.
Why use bi-weekly instead of semi-monthly?
Bi-weekly means every two weeks (26 paychecks/year). Semi-monthly means twice a month on fixed dates (24 paychecks/year). Bi-weekly is more common in the US. This calculator uses bi-weekly (annual / 26).
How do paid vacation and holidays affect the calculation?
If you receive paid time off, keep weeks per year at 52 — you are still being paid for those weeks. Only reduce the weeks if you take unpaid time off. For example, 2 weeks unpaid vacation = 50 weeks per year.
