FAQ

How do I calculate X% of a number?
Divide the percentage by 100 and multiply by the number. For example, 25% of 200 = (25 ÷ 100) × 200 = 50. Use the first tab above for instant results.
How do I find percentage change?
Subtract the original value from the new value, divide by the absolute value of the original, then multiply by 100. A positive result means an increase; a negative result means a decrease.
What is the difference between percentage change and percentage points?
Percentage change compares two values relative to the original (e.g., going from 40% to 50% is a 25% increase). Percentage points measure the absolute difference between two percentages (e.g., 50% − 40% = 10 percentage points). They are not interchangeable.
Can I use negative numbers?
Yes. Negative inputs are valid in all modes. For example, a percentage change from −20 to 10 correctly shows a 150% increase.
